Step-by-Step: Taking a Child's Temperature Under the Arm

Choose a preferred language

Remove the cap from the tip of the thermometer. Clean the tip with an alcohol wipe. Turn the thermometer on. Lift the child's arm up by gently pulling on their wrist. Place the tip of the thermometer under their arm. Fold the child's arm over the thermometer, holding it in place over their chest. Wait for the thermometer to beep to know their temperature has been recorded. Read the temperature on the thermometer. Clean the tip of the thermometer with soap and water. Thoroughly dry the tip. Place the cap back on the tip.
