TYLENOL® WITH CODEINETRANSCRIPT (page 1 of 3)If you have moderate to severe pain, you may be prescribed Tylenol with Codeine.Tylenol with Codeine is a high alert medication, which means if you do not take itexactly as prescribed it may cause illness or injury.To understand how Tylenol with Codeine works, let’s look at how pain affects yourbody.Thousands of tiny nerve cells in your body sense many feelings; cold, heat, pressure,and pain. When your body is injured, the tiny nerve cells send a message to your brainthat says: I’m in pain here!Tylenol with Codeine is a combination of two different pain relief medications;Acetaminophen or Tylenol, and Codeine.Tylenol with Codeine works in the brain to change how your body feels and respondsto pain. It can also reduce fever.Tylenol with Codeine comes as either a tablet or liquid. The medication label will show2 dosage numbers. The first is the amount of Acetaminophen and the second is theamount of Codeine prescribed to you. Your healthcare provider will decide how muchof each ingredient you need to take.Tylenol with Codeine is a powerful medication. Some people should not take it. Do nottake Tylenol with Codeine if you are allergic to Acetaminophen, or Codeine.If you are pregnant, or planning to get pregnant, tell your healthcare provider. Do notbreastfeed while taking Tylenol with Codeine.Before taking Tylenol with Codeine, tell your healthcare provider if you have a historyof: asthma, COPD or other breathing problems, liver disease, kidney disease, 20%headgradient meshinjury, diarrhea, or severe constipation.Tylenol with Codeine can be highly addictive. Make sure you discuss all possible sideeffects with your healthcare provider.Take Tylenol with Codeine exactly as prescribed. Do not change your dose or take itfor longer than prescribed.Take this medication with food to avoid an upset stomach. Drink 6 to 8 glasses ofwater a day to avoid constipation.If you have been prescribed liquid Tylenol with Codeine, use a dose measuringspoon20% gradient meshor medicine cup to make sure you get the correct amount. If you think you have taken too much Tylenol with Codeine, call911. An overdose of Tylenol with Codeine can cause serious breathing problems thatcan lead to death.Store Tylenol with Codeine away from moisture and direct sunlight. Your bathroommedicine cabinet is not the best place because of moisture. Do not leave yourmedication where it can get too hot or too cold. Always store your medication out ofsight and out of reach of children to prevent accidents.When you are done taking Tylenol with Codeine, crush all of your remaining pills andmix them with undesirable trash like kitty litter or coffee grounds. Dispose of liquidTylenol with Codeine by flushing it down a drain or toilet.Do not sell or give your Tylenol with Codeine to anyone else. It is against the law andcan seriously harm anyone else taking it.
